EMPHASES IN ENVIRONMENTAL GEOGRAPHY AND EARTH SCIENCES
Geographic Information Science has emerged as the study of the principles and methods underpinning the technology of geographic information systems. The Department of Geography provides a range of courses in the area including a GIS Certificate Program (http://www.geog.utah.edu/gis_cert/index.php). GIS is a rapidly growing field, and many students have secured employment in this area in Utah and around the country. Students interested in concentrating their studies in GIS should select from the following courses the five elective courses required for a degree in Geography.
